... but the righteous shall flourish as a branch

The current international economic crisis has caused us to lose sight of the lives of people living in the world's poorer countries. This in turn has created even greater hardship for them. Examples of this year annual report show how deeply our lives and our economies impact the lives and livelihoods of people in other parts of the world.

      Annual Report

      … And You Visited Me
      Annual Report 2007 / 2008
Taking care of the sick, their welfare and their healing is one of humanity’s foremost responsibilities in all societies, cultures and religions. “I was sick, and you visited me”: these words of Jesus from St. Matthew's Gospel are a call to concrete action. They remind us that restoring health is not just a matter of curing illness but also of overcoming isolation, loneliness and deprivation, of respect for human dignity and living in communion in families and communities. For EED, a sustainable financing of health care systems is fundamental.

You Renew the Face of the Earth
      Annual Report 2006 / 2007
What does “sustainable” mean? What is viable for the future? This Annual Report from EED, the Church Development Service, is presented under the maxim of the 104th Psalm: “You renew the face of the earth”. For hundreds of years people have known what the Psalm says: God makes the grass grow for the cattle and plants for man to cultivate – bringing forth food from the earth. God created the earth and ordered us people to build on it and preserve it. In view of the rapid change in the world, this task is being presented to the partner organisations of EED with new intensity and urgency.

In the Way of Righteousness is Life
      Annual Report 2005 / 2006
Christians live in practically all of the countries on Earth. By their faith they are challenged to strive for the well-being of all people. Whether in India, post-war Democratic Republic of Congo, post-communist Albania, in Egypt or in the Pacific: EED and its partners are committed to sustainable development and realising human rights. The poor, irrespective of their faith, benefit from their projects.

You Shall Not Deny Justice To the Poor
EED Annual Report 2003/2004: Where Hope Takes Root and Trust Grows Small family farmers in developing countries fight for survival. Negative conditions dominate: difficult access to the market, strong international competitive pressure and little political weight around the global negotiating table. In spite of the continuing migration to the cities, the majority of poor people continue to live in rural areas. EED specifically sponsors small family farms and Fair Trade and stands up for equity in world trade.
