… male and female, He created them

Title

EED’s gender strategy follows a two-pronged approach: integration of gender analysis and measures into all its programs and procedures and targeted funding of projects committed to improving the lives of women. The annual report before you takes a look at this latter aspect of our gender strategy.

The Development Service of the Church - A Contribution towards Peace and Justice in the World. A Memorandum

This Memorandum of the Advisory Commision for Development Affairs of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) is an outstanding document of theological reflection. It guides the life and work of EED.

The Memorandum treats the fundamental questions concerning the churches' development service. It describes its goals,  the theological basis of the churches' participation in development and how the work is being carried out. More specifically it explains the unity of proclamation and service as well as the relation between mission and development service: "Christians are commissioned to preach the coming of the Kingdom of God in the world, to help and to heal. Their mission ist based on the faith which confesses the world to be God's creation; on their love through which they encounter in their fellow men, who are deprived of their rights and who are poor, their Lord; and in the hope which acts becauses of the assurance of the coming of the new creation. Therefore, proclamation, which leads to faith, and service, in which love becomes active, together form a unitiy." (p. 4)

This Memorandum was published by the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD)in 1973 and is of vital interest for EED and the protestant churches in Germany.
