… male and female, He created them

Title

EED’s gender strategy follows a two-pronged approach: integration of gender analysis and measures into all its programs and procedures and targeted funding of projects committed to improving the lives of women. The annual report before you takes a look at this latter aspect of our gender strategy.

The “Fashion for Development (FFD)” project is an initiative of artistic creation and increased value of dyed African textiles. Fusion of ancient and modern know-how the AGT Clothes are exclusive handicraft production.

Carried by CERAD International with the support of EED (Evangelical Churches Service for Development in Germany), initiative put in synergy many actors of the textile sector (artists, designers, batik tie and dye makers, screen printers, weavers, dress designers) who are at different levels to propose, manufacture and develop new fashionable and decorative clothes.

Meeting of art and textile (Art Goes Textiles), it is a new label of dyed African cloth which comes into being: “ CERAD Afrik Graphik Textile”. Fusion of authentic and ancient handicrafts, AGT Clothes combine in their designs various motifs, styles and colours sensitivities of the rich African cultural heritage to modern values of textile and fashion, while divesting of its ethnic context to only stay universal.

Started in January 2006, the FFD initiative has make its way through series of capacitance meetings of actors, workshops and production residences, mini fashion shows and other expositions to mark at each time the evolution of the new product and measure the quality standard attained as we go forward.

For its first outdooring, it is a genuine new collection line of fashionable clothes of a light tendency, on different textile supports (cotton, basin and linen), out of “déjà vu” which offers itself to the public-consumers of style/fashion by inviting them in a glamorous universe with the sleek touch of the “magicians of thread” who are the dress designers and other fashions designers.
