The Worldwide Programmes Team is part of the International Programmes Department.
Through this team EED promotes development-related activities whose range is not limited to only one country, region or continent.
The aim is to support the work of experienced organisations which are committed to Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation across regions and which enable mutual learning above and beyond the local and regional contexts.
Main areas of funding and co-operation are:
- Activities of issue-based international and civil society organisations on subjects such as a just world economy, environment and globalisation, land rights and food sovereignty, peace building and conflict resolution and gender justice. Examples to be cited here are Third World Network (Malaysia), Tebtebba-Indigenous Peoples’ International Centre for Policy Research and Education (Philippines), World Social Forum, ISIS-WICCE (Uganda).
- The development co-operation of internationally active church related partner organisations and co-operation with Christian world alliances, such as the World Council of Churches (WCC) or the Lutheran World Federation (LWF).
- Development-related training activities offered by churches and church related partner organisations. These include scholarship programmes, personnel secondments, South-South exchange and other programmes in the field of human resources development.
In addition to financial support, we aim to increase contacts among our various partners and eventually to link them with EED’s own lobbying activities in Germany and Europe.
